Dr. Leis is the residency program director at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). She is a hand and microsurgeon with a special focus on pediatric and congenital hand, brachial plexus birth injury, adult traumatic brachial plexus injury and peripheral nerve injury. She is the director of the Brachial Plexus Birth Injury Program at CHOC Children’s Hospital and the Division Chief for Hand Surgery at UCI. She was a 2023 Visiting Professor through the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the recipient of the 2023 Best Faculty Teacher award from the American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons and 2024 Academician of the year from the California Society of Plastic Surgeons. She is also the American Society of Peripheral Nerve Travelling Fellow for 2025
